      17 December 1780

      Counterpart lease from 3rd Viscount Weymouth to Philip Pepler of Edington, Wiltshire, yeoman.
      The lease is granted in consideration of the cancellation of a former lease of these premises granted by Lord Weymouth to the said Philip Pepler on 2 March 1774 (in which the lives of Sarah Pepler and William Pepler, son and daughter of Philip, are still in being), and also in consideration of ten pounds paid by Philip Pepler to Lord Weymouth.
      To hold for the term of the natural lives of the said Sarah Pepler and William Pepler, and of the said Philip Pepler, now aged 50. At an annual rent of five shillings and four pence; heriot ten shillings.
      The tenant covenants to do suit to the manorial court, to carry out sufficient repairs to the property, and to plant three timber trees each year at the bounds of the premises.
      The lease is endorsed: 'Entered fol. 183 [See notes from this survey page, below], and 'Lease cancelled and another granted to the said Philip Pepler 3rd June 1796'
