    1. [S179] Obituary, For M James Peppler.
      M. James Peppler, 78, of Parks Township,
      died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, in UPMC St.
      Margaret, Aspinwall. Born June 2, 1933, in
      Vandergrift, to the late Roy and Goldie
      (Woodside) Peppler. Mr. Peppler lived in Parks
      Township all of his life. He was employed by
      U.S. Steel Corporation in Vandergrift as a
      sergeant in the Security Department, retiring
      in 1983. He was also an EMT. Mr. Peppler
      served in the Army during the Korean War.
      He was a member of the North Apollo Church
      of God in North Apollo. James loved spending
      time with his family and puppy-sitting every
      chance he got. He also enjoyed hunting, yard
      work, keeping a garden, canning and making
      his famous chili. Besides his parents, James
      was preceded in death by his beloved wife of
      46 years, Esther Marie Peppler, in 2003; a
      daughter, Sandra Dee, in 1969; one sister,
      Jeanette Shellhammer; one brother, Roy
      Peppler; and an infant brother. James is
      survived by two sons, Dan (Noanie) Peppler,
      of North Apollo, and Douglas (Deb) Peppler,
      of Parks Township; one daughter, Lisa (Jeff)
      Williams, of Parks Township; six
      grandchildren, Amanda and Christopher
      Peppler, Scott and Corey Williams and Annie
      and Ethan Altmire; one brother, Stanley
      (Sally) Peppler, of Gilpin Township; two
      sisters, Virginia Weidner, of Apollo, and Jane
      (Donald) Cessna, of Rural Valley; sisters-inlaw,
      Betty Peppler, of Bethel Township, and
      ValJean (Wayne) Eckman, of Elderton; as well
      as many loving nieces and nephews. A
      memorial service will be held at 1 p.m.
      Sunday at the North Apollo Church of God,
      North Apollo, with the Rev. Robert
      Shallenberger officiating. Private burial in
      Bethel Lutheran Cemetery, Ford City.
      Arrangements have been entrusted to the
      care of the CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME
      AND CREMATORY INC., 100 Owens View Ave.,
